Diane Leifheit
Pastel Artist
Adirondack pastel artist Diane Leifheit works primarily en plein air. Her work has been recently recognized by the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada, Cape Cod Society of Pastel Painters, Parrsboro International Plein Air, and the Frederick Remington Museum.
The summer of 2023, she was artist-in-residence at Art Lab, Parrsboro, Nova Scotia.
Born in Rockville Center, NY, graduated with honors from Pratt, Diane has resided in Paul Smiths, New York since 1980.
Capturing landscape in pastel is a form of recording history. Leifheit feels the work being created in the time of global warming is playing witness to the changes occurring in our lifetime.
Her intention since early 2000s has been to see the beauty that is now. Her work stands witness to the transitions in the environment.
